Greetings

Greetings in Italy are somewhat similar to those in the U.S. Men and women greet eachother by shaking hands. When men and women are first introduced to eachother, the man usually slightly bows his head and waits for the woman to extend her hand for a hand shake. Good friends greet eachother by hugging or kissing eachother lightly on the cheek. People also say "Caio" as an informal greeting meaning "Hi" or "Good-bye".
